ANTIQUE MEDICAL INSTRUMENTS AND RARE BOOKS

Welcome to The Conservatory's Department of Rare Books and Medical Instruments. We have been collecting medical antiques and consulting on authenticity of medical instruments and rare medical textbooks for over thirty years.

Only serious collectors and buyers will be considered. This type of avocation is extremely serious and very expensive. Many instruments, articles, and equipment are hand lathed and milled from highly valuable metals, including gold and platinum. The antique microscopes all have hand polished lensing with delicate action in their mechanics, all of which are hand crafted.

The listed prices are based on current market demand, and the collectibility of high grade medical instruments, diagnostic tools, and antique books. For example, some of our instruments were made in Germany by centuries old manufacturers well before and during World War II. This, in addition to the fact that these previously well established centuries old German machining, ceramics, and engineering companies were permanently closed by the Allies and Soviets, make these particular instruments highly collectible.

It should be known, however, that prices of antiques are always negotiable with reputable brokers.
